Málaga on yellow alert for high winds

Gusts of up to 80km/h are forecast

High winds are being forecast to hit Andalucía.

The Andalusian provinces of Almeria, Cadiz, Granada and Málaga and Ceuta and Melilla have been put on yellow alert (danger) of winds that can reach speeds of 80 kilometers per hour (km / h).

The forewarning has been announced by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

Standard advice in strong winds is to secure doors, windows and all objects that could fall into the street and keep clear of ledges, trees, walls or buildings under construction or cranes that can come loose.

If driving take great care, especially when exiting tunnels, passing lorries and heavy vehicles and crossing roads.

The Meteorological Agency have long established four alert levels: green (safe), yellow (danger), orange (significant risk) and red (extreme risk).

Clouds and scattered showers, particularly in areas inland have also been forecast.
