Clear sky of Costa del Sol shows Supermoon in full glory
Hundreds of sky gazers across the world headed outside on Saturday night to get a glimpse of the Supermoon.
The natural phenomenon occurs when the moon comes very close to the earth and appears bigger and brighter than normal.
In India, people gathered in the capital of New Delhi to witness the spectacle, and others in Washington took to the streets to gaze up at the sky.
Scores of people witnessed the event from beaches in Marbella, including Cabopino where the moonlight reflection off the calm sea added to the magnificence.
Many astrologers have linked the Japan earthquake and subsequent tsunami to the closeness of the moon to the earth.
The phenomenon is also known as Lunar Perigee.
